1. Il Rione
- Address: 1303 W. 65th – Gordon Square, Cleveland, OH
- Phone: (216) 282-1451
The pizzeria is housed in a remodeled bar from 1917 and serves New York City-style pizzas with creative toppings. An excellent brick-oven pizza is baked in front of your eyes while you enjoy live music and premium drinks at this restaurant. The clam dish with garlic and pecorino is a must-try! The speck with the heated honey, lemon ricotta, pistachio, and paper-thin ham slices is also worth your time to read. Wood-fired New York-style pizza is made by owners Brian Holleran and Brian Moss, who use only a few classic ingredients like arugula and prosciutto.
The new West 65th Street pizza is a cozy spot where original materials and contemporary finishes combine to create an atmosphere that is both welcoming and full of character. 4. Citizen Pie
- Address: 15710 Waterloo Rd #11660, Cleveland, OH
- Phone: (216) 417-2742
Citizen Pie is known for its authentic wood-fired Neapolitan pizza and lively, vibrant atmosphere. Since they provide alcohol, this eatery is great for after-work get-togethers with friends. The mushroom and brie pie is my go-to from the brick oven since it’s one of a kind, substantial, exciting, and delicious.
There’s no mistake about what you’re getting into at Citizen Pie, a tiny eatery with a massive pizza oven. This is one of the greatest Neapolitan-style pizzas in town, with its doughy, charred crust and premium toppings. Don’t pass on the simple, yet ideal, combination of smoked pepperoni, mozzarella, and oregano on a basic pizza.

5. City Slice Pizzeria
- Address: 12021 Lorain Ave, Cleveland, OH 04111
- Phone: (216) 273-7504
This minority-owned, family-operated pizzeria in Cleveland is committed to bringing a taste of New York to the area with its homemade pies and gigantic slices. City Slice, in case you haven’t heard, makes the largest slices in the area. Slices of pizza and ice cream are also on the menu. The arcade games available there are fun for everyone in the family. If you’re looking for something different, we recommend the Veggie City pie, which comes with your choice of provolone or mozzarella, red sauce, Roma tomatoes, black olives, mushrooms, green peppers, and onion.
Their 40-inch pies are so huge that even a single piece is bigger than a traditional Neapolitan pizza. The thin and chewy crust can be folded without breaking, keeping the pizza from falling over, yet it is still substantial enough to hold the toppings. Ordering a whole 18-inch pizza for pickup or delivery is an option, but the larger 40-inch pies are not. Do yourself a favor and order the cherry pepper pie, which is sure to please.

6. Cent’s Pizza + Goods
- Address: 5010 Lorain Ave, Cleveland, OH 44102
- Phone: (216) 862-6427
This pizzeria is the place to be. After working at the legendary Roberta’s Pizza in New York City, founder Vincent Morelli opened a pizzeria in Ohio City. The pink-themed pizzeria is now up for business, complete with a sizzling Italian wood oven. A large screen plays vintage films while a constantly playing soundtrack makes you feel cooler than you are. No liquor license as of yet, so BYOB, but there’s plenty of food to go around. Toppings like Parmesan cheese and anchovies are optional on the tomato pizza, which also comes with garlic, oregano, extra-virgin olive oil, and breadcrumbs.
Salads, such as the Deep House Salad with olive oil, red wine vinegar, dill, and frisee endive, are also available in addition to the four pizza options. Vince Morelli, the man behind Cent’s Pizza & Goods, has made it his mission to improve the quality of life in Cleveland, and he’s doing it one slice at a time. Friday through Sunday, you can order pizza to-go there. Because of how popular it will be, the first weekend is completely sold out. Olive oil, basil, ricotta, and even anchovies are just a few of the unconventional pizza toppings that can be found on Cent’s menu.

7. Vero Pizza Napoletana
- Address: 12421 Cedar Rd, Cleveland Heights, OH 44106
- Phone: (216) 229-8383
This trendy bi-level restaurant is known for its creative pizzas topped with in-season produce. You’ll see the wood-burning oven, 6000-pound equipment imported from Italy, with Vero tiled in navy above its opening, before you’ll notice the abstract artworks that dominate the 40-seat dining area or the sleek maple bar. Marc-Aurele Buholzer, a pizza chef, serves the beast 100 pizzas per day at a rate of three pizzas at a time. The baking time for the dough is a scant 90 seconds. Cleveland’s best pizza has a dark, charred crust that’s still sweet and chewy.
The modern Napoletana cuisine is uncomplicated but impressive; the Margherita, with its weekly shipment of buffalo mozzarella from Italy, is a particular standout. As an example, a simple but delicious appetizer is buffalo mozzarella topped with grated cured egg yolk and olive oil. The prosciutto has been aged for 36 months. Still, the fact that they offer a Milk ‘n’ Honey made with egg and hot honey demonstrates that they can laugh at themselves.

8. Crust Midtown
- Address: 3000 St Clair Ave NE, Cleveland, OH
- Phone: (216) 589-9711
At this eatery, you may eat only one of the enormous and delicious pizzas and be well satisfied. Although there is seating inside this casual eatery, I recommend ordering to go so that you may enjoy your meal at a neighboring park on a lovely day. Since their cheese is so good, I suggest ordering a plain pepperoni pizza with red sauce.
The New York-style pizza isn’t the only good thing about this place; the stacked subs and ricotta gnocchi are delicious, too. All of their citywide locations are well-regarded by patrons. Crust initially just served pizza, but eventually began serving other Italian dishes like pasta, arancini with marinara, sub sandwiches, and burgers. Both a Greek spanakopita pizza with feta, spinach, and garlic and an eggplant pizza made with roasted eggplant are among the specialties featuring smoked mozzarella, red peppers, balsamic reduction. Griffin is thinking about opening a third Crust in 2023.

9. Moe’s Tavern
- Address: 1740 E 17th St, Cleveland, OH 44114
- Phone: (440) 525-1041
This legendary watering hole served as inspiration for Moe’s in the first season of The Simpsons. The brewpub serves retro-style sourdough pizza, pub bites, plus beverages. The greatest 10 bars and best 20 restaurants in Cleveland. The happy hour menu and sports viewing are not kid-friendly, but you can bring your drinks. The staff is kind and helpful, the beer selection is excellent, and there are perks like free wifi and a trivia night.
Try the Moe’s Flaming Chicken or fish sandwich. Their 10″ Neapolitan pizzas are baked in a 550° clay oven and come out with the right crispiness and soft interior. The Quattro Formaggio pizza is a must topped with Parmesan, feta, mozzarella, and provolone. The Meat at Moe’s is also very popular with its provolone or mozzarella, bacon, sausage, and pepperoni toppings. While there are only two salad options, they’re pretty good.

10. Astoria Cafe & Market
- Address: 5417 Detroit Ave, Cleveland, OH 44102
- Phone: (216) 266-0834
A chic Mediterranean market and restaurant serving tapas, wine, and cocktails alongside a selection of fine meats and cheeses. Chef Cory Kobrinski claims that Astoria never intended to become one of Cleveland’s finest dining establishments. In 2016, the 5,000-square-foot building near Gordon Square was known more for the vast warehouse of specialized foods housed within than for the cozy cafe. Customers, however, are king, and they gradually started to expect more from Kobrinski’s market-driven, Greek-inspired restaurant.
Now, there’s room for 240 people inside. Astoria is a pulsating hub of activity at all hours of the day and night. In contrast, the brunch at Astoria is usually considered to be among the greatest in all of Cleveland. With imported Italian ham flavored with rosemary, Swiss gruyere, homemade bechamel, mustard, plus an egg, the Croque Madame is like the market’s greatest hits.

11. Edison’s Pizza Kitchen
- Address: 2365 Professor Ave, Cleveland, OH 44113
- Phone: (216) 298-4484
Cozy, functional pizzeria serving up pizza, subs, and typical sides like wings and salads. Our local bar is warm and welcoming. Even though this is predominantly a craft beer bar, I would recommend coming here for the pizza. It’s great when a bar offers more than just the standard bar fare like fries plus chicken wings. Their pizza is top-notch down to the crunchy dough and salty cheese. Plus, I enjoy the weekly live entertainment on Saturdays as well as the weekly dance parties on Mondays.
In addition, your canine companion is welcome to join you on the outdoor patio. A place opens late where you can get pieces of specialty pies to go. After an overly celebratory night of drinking, one of Edison’s rich, thick pies is just what the physician ordered. Edison is known for its specialty pies, which are well worth the time (as well as the late hours), but the restaurant also offers ample slices for those in a rush. BBQ chicken with a special sauce created from scratch, onions, a cheese blend, and honey on the side for dipping.
